Chennai India District Conference |
|
On 22 May 2011at a special district conference in Chennai India, Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy taught the members about four essential cornerstones of our faith: the First Vision, the Book of Mormon, priesthood authority and keys, and the Savior Jesus Christ. “Teach your children to embrace these four cornerstones,” he urged. He explained how the Holy Ghost will help us gain an understanding of these important truths. The privilege of receiving revelation and having latter-day scriptures are blessings of the Restoration that distinguish our faith.

Using the example of Peter who tried to walk to Jesus on the water, but began to sink when he took his eyes off of Jesus, Elder Jensen urged the congregation to never take their eyes off of the Savior. “Look to Him, always remember Him, and keep His commandments.” He noted that the practices described in the Family Guidebook can be very helpful in keeping our families strong. “This little booklet has been the constitution of the Jensen family,” he noted.

The members of the Church and many investigators warmly welcomed Elder Jensen to this coastal city in southeastern India. Also participating in the conference were his wife, Sister Lona L. Jensen, and President Randy D. Funk, India Bangalore Mission President, and his wife Sister Andrea C. Funk. Elder and Sister Jensen also visited a soon to be completed meetinghouse under construction in Chennai. Elder Jensen had come to Chennai from New Delhi where he participated with Elder Jeffrey R. Holland and other priesthood leaders in a Priesthood Leadership Conference.
